Software update for Epic 4G: Android 2.2 (manually install now)
Good news for all Samsung Epic 4G owners, finally after months of waiting and numerous fake leaks and different rumors, the Epic 4G will finally receive Android 2.2 Froyo.
The Android 2.2 update for Samsung Epic 4G will bring a lot of new features and improvements together with a performance boost to the user interface, but along with this upgrade there are still a few bugs lurking that need to be tackled over the coming weeks. Other improvements include Flash Player 10.1, improved Bluetooth support including voice dialing, GPS improvements and the ability to install apps on external storage.
Here’s what you need to do if you want to manually install Android 2.2 on your Epic 4G:
1.First, you need to download the update file (if you go with the Mac version over the Windows version, you won’t have to deal with any file renaming).
2.Move the update.zip file into your phone’s SD card.
3.Power down the phone.
4.Hold the Volume Down and Camera buttons as you turn the phone back on. The update will begin running automatically.
5.Restart the phone.
Don’t forget to backup any data from your Samsung Epic 4G before you install the Froyo update.
