Toshiba unveils Excite X10 – the thinnest tablet (7.7 mm)
Toshiba introduced the thinnest tablet at CES. The Excite X10 has only 7.7 mm, it is thinner even than the iPad 2. It remains to see how long they will keep that title, as will many exciting launches at CES and Mobile World Congress 2012.
Excite X10 is lightweight, which is less than 500 grams. Tablet from Toshiba is a premium, with an elegant design and top specifications. Comes with a 10.1 inch screen with resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. The processor has 1.2 GHz and 1 GB of RAM memory.
Excite X10 has a 5 megapixels main camera and a 2-megapixels front camera for video calls. The camera can shoot in 720p HD resolution. It can connect to the Internet via Wi-Fi b/g/n, with no SIM card slot, so no HSDPA support. But Tablet has GPS.
The operating system is Android 3.2 Honeycomb, but Toshiba will put Ice Cream Sandwich on all new models later this year. It is worth mentioning that Toshiba does not use its own user interface, leaving it as Android. It is good news for Android fans, especially since some interfaces to use the device unnecessarily slow.
Other features of the tablet are microUSB ports, HDMI Micro, microSD slot and audio jack.
Units will be available for shipping in late February. Pricing for Excite X10 16GB storage is $530 while the 32GB option will be sold for $600. The price is not officially confirmed.
