Asus Transformer Prime officially announced

Asus Transformer Prime, the first quad-core Android tablet was officially announced today.

The new tablet carries a 10.1-inch, 1280×800 Super IPS Corning Gorilla Glass display, quad-core Nvidia Tegra3 processor, 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera with LED flash and capability of full 1080p HD video recording, 1,2MP front camera, SonicMaster audio and 12 hours of battery life reported. There are possibilities regarding the internal storage, 32GB and 64GB.

Transformer Prime also has a microSD card slot, micro HDMI, 3,5mm audio jack and USB2.0 with the optional keyboard dock and the screen is only 8.9mm.

The Prime 32GB version will cost $499 while the 64GB version will cost $599.99. The keyboard dock can be purchased separately for $149 and comes with a bonus of additional 6hours of battery life, USB 2.0 port and an SD card slot.

Although, initially the Prime will be running Android 3.2 Honeycomb, an update will be done in early December with the new Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich FOTA. A few productivity applications will also be added such as SuperNote and Polaris Office.
