Sprint released its Total Equipment Protection App for Android and BlackBerrys

is a new application released by Sprint, meant to protect your phone and is addressing to one of the biggest user concerns related to loss of data in the case of lost, damaged or stolen devices. This new app is available for both Android and BlackBerry smartphones.
You can access the Total Equipment Protection App beginning today, at www.sprint.com/protection, and you will benefit the following features:
– Locate lost device by sounding an alarm on the smartphone even if in silent mode, doing a real time locate via GPS technology, or viewing the smartphone’s location history on a map via a Web Interface
– Remotely lock their smartphone
– Erase contacts in the address book on a lost smartphone
– Backup, manage and restore contacts
The application is the equivalent of Lookout, and is available to download for free, but just in case you have the Total Equipment Protection plan for $7 per month. There are currently eight Android and six BlackBerry smartphones listed as being compatible so make sure to check out the Sprint page for details on how to install.
