LG Optimus 2x will be available in USA on T-Mobile – release date

LG Optimus 2XOne of the latest sensations of this year is LG’s beastly Tegra 2-powered Android phone, the Optimus 2x.

Even though the availability in the USA was not mentioned in the press release, we heard some rumors about the Optimus 2X release date in USA.

This dual-core Android will launch in USA on T-Mobile in the late February or early March. “We have it on rather good authority that the US carrier for the phone will be T-Mobile” said Sylvie Barak of RCR Wireless.

Optimus 2X features a 4.0 inch capacitive touchscreen with accelerometer, proximity and gyro sensor, a 8 megapixels camera with autofocus, LED flash and is capable to record videos at 1080p resolution. Of course the most important hardware piece is the dual-core Tegra 2 processor with GeForce GPU. Other specs include a HDMI mirroring, 1080p MPEG-4/ H.264 playback and recording and a front-facing camera.

LG Optimus 2X runs the Android 2.2 OS but because Google has released the source code for Android 2.3, i’m sure that LG is already working on an update and pretty soon the Optimus 2X will receive the Gingerbread.

Since T-Mobile will be the carrier to announce the Optimus 2X, probably at the media event scheduled on January 6th at CES, there’s also a possibility that the carrier will upgrade the Optimus 2X to Android 2.3 at launch and offer the Gingerbread out of the box.
