AT&T announced the BlackBerry Torch, a smartphone with BB OS 6 and slide QWERTY keyboard

blackberry-torch-frontAT&T and RIM announced today the BlackBerry Torch 9800, the first official smartphone with new BlackBerry OS 6 and slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

BlackBerry 9800 Torch features a 3.2 inch display with 360 x 480 pixels resolution, 5 megapixels camera capable to record VGA videos. Wi-Fi b/g/n, GPS and Bluetooth, offers a great connectivity of BB Torch. Torch 9800 has a 512 MB operating memory, expandable up to 32 GB via the microSD card slot. Every BB Torch has a 4 GB card included in the package.

The shipping starts on 12 august for all AT&T customers. The price is $199.99 with a 2 year contract. New smartphone customers can choose from two AT&T monthly data plan options, $15 for 200 MB of wireless data or $25 for 2 GB.

Update: If you’re not an AT&T customer, don’t worry, BlackBerry Torch will arrive soon in more carriers. This fall at Bell, Rogers will unveil it in a few weeks, TELUS this year and Virgin Mobile says it will have it very soon.
