As we told you in a previous post, the Android 2.2 for HTC Wildfire is getting close and it appears this week will make its entry in Europe.
I know you have been waiting for this software update for so long, but in a few days the wait will be over and your Wildfire will taste the Froyo along with all its improvements and features.
The Wildfire software update from Android 2.1 to Android 2.2 brings all the supported functionalities that are included in this 2.2 OS update, including:
– Support for USB tethering
– Possibility of installing applications to SD card (if supported by the application)
– Native support for ActiveSync Exchange (email, contacts and calendar sync) and security policies
– Enhanced Camera application
– Enhanced Bluetooth support
– Speed and stability improvements
– Multiple keyboard languages
– WiFi Hotspot tethering
Here we have to mention that unfortunately the “Live wallpapers” and “Flash” support in the browser are not supported due to hardware limitations. Before to hit the update, check the software version on your HTC Wildfire, go to Menu > Settings > About phone > Software Information > Software Number. This new software update version is 2.24.161.1.
Vodafone announced that the Wildfire owners should receive a notification of the availability of the new 2.24.161.1. software, but if you don’t receive this notification you can also perform a manual check by “electing Menu from the Home screen, tapping Settings, scrolling down the screen, tapping About Phone and then System software updates. On this screen tap Check now.”
Be sure to perform a back up of all data on your Wildfire before to upgrade process, to be sure that you don’t lose any important files during the update.
