Droid 2 Gingerbread and Evo 4G maintenance update coming soon
There are two big updates just right on the corner and ready to arrive on two popular devices, the Droid 2 and the Evo 4G.
The Droid 2 is expecting the much anticipated Gingerbread 2.3 update, while the Evo 4G is preparing for something not that huge as the Gingerbread, but a welcomes maintenance update.
Now let’s see! The Gingerbread OTA for Droid 2 is coming as the 4.5.601 software and will occupy 106MB from your device memory. It includes a lot of new features and improvements such as added security, a customizable dock, improved copy-paste functionality, a download manager app and another few enhancements that will improve the user experience. This OTA is expected to arrive very soon, maybe just in a few days, so prepare your phone for some tasty Gingerbread.
The next on our list is the maintenance update for the HTC Evo 4G, and will arrive as the 4.53.651.1 software version. Even though is not as huge as the Droid 2’s Gingerbread it brings a few bug fixes such as: Images cut off in Picasa issue fixed, Integrated voice recognition accuracy with voice search and voice-to-text, Image size issue with contact transfer over bluetooth resolved , Group contacts not in alphabetical order issue resolved, Out of memory, Unable to send SMS error fixed. This small maintenance update for Evo 4G is scheduled to hit devices in the next 1-2 weeks.
Even though it’s summer time and we’re still planning our vacation, various updates seems like they’re getting back from a long vacation, and are bringing a few goodies for all of you. As a notice: if you’re trying to manually active the update you may receive an error message stating that there is no update available. Sprint carrier recommends Evo owners to be patient and check again later, or wait for the update to automatically hit the device.
