Android 2.2 Froyo for Samsung Captivate coming to AT&T

Good news for all Samsung Captivate owners, AT&T is going to release in a few hours or maybe minutes the Android 2.2 Froyo for your device.

The 2.2 software update for Captivate was promised for the first time back in fall 2010, but its release was delayed quite a lot. Also, the AT&T carrier wrote on Facebook that it would post a link to Samsung’s site with directions on how to install Froyo onto the handset. With all of this being said, it would seem that this will not be an OTA upgrade.

The Android 2.2 for Captivate will bring some new features like Adobe Flash 10.1 support, apps installation on SD card, and performance improvements.

Since the Samsung Captivate is already receiving the update, the only device left behind with the Android 2.2 update is Samsung Fascinate. So now the pressure is on Verizon to bring the Android 2.2 to Fascinate up to par with the Captivate and Vibrant.
