Samsung Galaxy Pocket – price and release date available

After the launch of Galaxy Beam smartphone, Samsung announced today another Android smartphone, but this time an entry-level smartphone with Gingerbread OS especially prepared for developing countries named Galaxy Pocket.

Samsung Galaxy Pocket is a compact entry-level smartphone with 103.7 x 57.5 mm dimensions, 12 mm thickness and only 97 grams weight. The touchscreen has 2.8-inches and 240 x 320 pixels resolution.

Impressive or not, Galaxy Pocket has 3GB internal storage, more than many mid-level smartphones. Also, the phone is compatible with microSD cards, and if you want more space for storage you can add an microSD card up to 32GB.

About connectivity, Galaxy Pocket has 3G (HSDPA 900/2100), Wi-Fi b/g/n with Wi-Fi hotspot and Bluetooth version 3.0 with A2DP. Very good configuration for an entry-level smartphone.

Samsung Galaxy Pocket is powered by 832MHz processor and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system. The camera has 2-megapixels (1600 x 1200 pixels) and can also make videos at VGA resolution with 15 fps.

Other specifications about Galaxy Pocket are the stereo FM radio, the SNS integration and the GPS. The battery has 1200 mAh.
