emergency-broadcast-systemSoon, the Emergency Broadcast System will not be available only to alert TV viewers but also, every cell phone will receive emergency messages.

The Alcatel company is developing this new Broadcast Message Center that will allow the government agencies to send mass information regarding local, state or national emergencies (road closures, hurricanes and tornadoes).

This Broadcast Message Center will allow phone companies meet FCC rules for a Commercial Mobile Alert System, which means that every phone company will need to install two message exchange centers.

The Broadcast Message Center is already testing in California and Florida and is expected to be released under FCC guidelines by April of 2012.
