4000 employees of Motorola Mobility will be dismissed

Google wants to reduce the number of Motorola Mobility Holdings employees with 4000 jobs, this number representing about 20% of staff producer smartphones and tablets, said Bloomberg, a close source to the situation.

Google has bought this year Motorola Mobility for $12.5 billion, some analysts speculated that the company’s motivation was huge portfolio of patents and patents owned manufacturer of smartphones and tablets.

Two thirds of the layoffs will take place outside the United States, said the source.

Google also wants to close about a third of Motorola operations.

The company will implement changes in the coming weeks and has informed employees of layoffs Sunday.

“Motorola will help to overcome this difficult transition and offer generous compensation packages and to restore services to help them find new jobs,” reads a release of Motorola Mobility, which does not specify the number of employees will be dismissed.
