Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray – first Sony Ericsson devices to receive Android 4.0

Sony Ericsson has announced future plans regarding the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich updates and devices that will receive it first.

The company has given details regarding the Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich update and revealed that the first to receive it are Xperia Arc S, Xperia Neo V and Xperia Ray. You won’t even have to wait too long for it as Sony Ericsson estimates it will all happen at the end of March or beginning of April 2012.

Xperia Arc, Xperia Play, Xperia neo, Xperia mini, mini Xperia pro and Xperia active are next in line to receive the ICS update. Again, this should happen at the end of April, beginning of May. In addition, around that time of the year Sony Ericsson Live with Walkman will upgrade to Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Apparently, Sony Ericsson have some big plans for us in 2012. They insist that all their current devices will get the Ice Cream Sandwich but for some it might take a while, meaning they won’t receive it until the middle of next year.

Now, there might be some delays caused for example by the mobile carriers’ testing of Sony Ericsson’s software to see if it is compatible with their networks, but I’m sure we can say for a fact that ICS update will be here in the first half of the year.
