Some good news appeared today for the Samsung Mesmerize owners! The Android 2.2 update is now available for Mesmerize at the UK Cellular, which is one of the major US carriers.

The new Android 2.2 update brings several features and improvements including:

– Microsoft Exchange support
– Portable Hotspot capability

How to manually instal Android 2.2 on Samsung Mesmerize:

If you want to manually update the Samsung Mesmerize, you should know that the manufacturer has developed a special version of Samsung’s Kies Mini desktop software that you can download and install it directly from Samsung’s website.

But before to hit the download you have to know that Kies Mini is only compatible with computers running 32bit versions of Microsoft Windows 7, Vista or XP, and requires users to disable all firewall and anti-virus programs. Also, all other Kies software that has been previously installed should be removed. Be sure to backup all of your data before to go to the next step.

After you have download and installed the Kies Mini, you just have to connect the device to the computer via USB cable and synchronize through the desktop software.

The next step is to open Kies and click on Phone Upgrade to start downloading the update. When the update is finished, the device will reboot itself and wil start in a few minutes.
