Nexus One : the first phone that will get the new Android 3.0 Gingerbread?
It appears that the next version of Android also called 3.0 Gingerbread is splitting into two and it will impose minimum hardware space and the UI is getting overhauled.
This ultimate Android 3.0 Gingerbread it appears to be conceived only for high-end devices. It comes with 1GHz CPU and 512MB RAM at minimum, plus a 3.5″ inches display in diagonal. Still, Android 2.1 Eclair/ 2.2 Froyo will remain and run on mid-range and low-end phones.
All of these things will lead for splitting the Android platform into two.
Android 3.0 Gingerbread will come with support for a 1280×760 resolution (720p) for 4 inches or bigger screens and it appears that it will end the 3rd-party UIs, but HTC, Samsung, Motorola and the rest will be able to run Android. 2.1/ 2.2.
This new version of Android it’s expected in mid-Octomber and Nexus One will probably be the first phone who gets it.
