BlackBerry App World 2.0, $0.99 and $1.99 apps available

BlackBerry applicationsBlackBerry App World 2.0 is now available to all customers at a cheaper price. BlackBerry finally decided to drop its minimum $2.99 price for app to $0.99 and $1.99.

This price change is meant to counter Apple, because the fact is BlackBerry is selling more smartphones than Apple and Google, but comparing the amount of available apps we can’t say the same thing. The result is quite funny and said at the same time, Android has about 100.000 apps available, Apple 225.000 and BlackBerry, just 9000. But this situation is starting to change since the release of BlackBerry Torch.

So this news is really a good one for BlackBerry community. BlackBerry customers can now have a BlackBerry ID that allows them to re-download apps and not just having them linked to other hardware. The applications are now sorted to category and even more, the camera-equipped BlackBerry can now take photos of QR codes to easily jump to app. After you buy the app you can choose if you want to pay it through your phone bill or credit card.

The update should be pushed to every BlackBerry customer in a few hours and is available through a manual check.
