Android 2.3 for HTC Desire HD, Desire, Desire Z and Incredible S coming this spring
HTC has finally confirmed the numerous rumors from the MWC2011 about the so long waited Gingerbread update that will soon arrive for some of its top popular devices starting with the HTC Desire HD and HTC Desire Z.
These two are not the only one on the list for the Gingerbread update, we also have to mention the HTC Incredible S, scheduled to roll out in the Q2 of this year, but also the original HTC Desire, that will receive the Android 2.3 also in Q2.
These news come from an HTC spokesperson who said that “We are excited to announce that the Desire HD, Desire Z, Desire and Incredible S will receive the Gingerbread update in Q2.“. I’m sure this is a sort of relief for most HTC owners because i know how much you have waited for a piece of Gingerbread, but now it’s your turn to taste the goodies.
Good news, great news, but though it remains a mystery if HTC was also referring to carrier-branded versions of the aforementioned devices in its statement, and if those devices would be receiving the Android 2.3 updates at the same time as their unlocked, HTC-branded siblings. Some devices we have to mention in this category include the HTC Thunderbolt and Inspire 4G, which are based on the Desire HD, as well as T-Mobile’s G2, the EVO Shift 4G, and possibly the HTC Merge, these three being based on the Desire Z.
