ARMADA 628 is the first 1.5 GHz tri-core processor
Marvell has recently announced the first 1.5 GHz tri-core processor to deliver Dual Stream 1080p 3D Video and 3D graphics performance not only for smartphones but also for tablets.
Its name is Marvell ARMADA 628 and incorporates a full System-on-a-Chip design (SoC) with a lot of advanced processing and power management features.
“Marvell has once again set the benchmark for the rest of the industry with the world’s first 1.5 GHz tri-core processor, delivering dual stream 1080p 3D video and 3D graphics performance with quad unified shaders for 200 million triangles per second delivered on ultra-low-power, long battery life smartphones and tablets,“, said Weili Dai, Marvell Co-founder.
The ARMADA 628 will be the first mobile CPU to deliver USB 3.0 connectivity, which offers 10x faster performance than USB 2.0. Also, it supports DirectX, Open GL ES 2.0, and Open VG 1.1 to allow a complete compatibility with the best mobile game titles. Speaking about OS, it’s capable to support Android, RIM, Linux and Windows Mobile.
