Smartphone Samsung GALAXY S2 has achieved outstanding results in an independent test, which aimed to determine which phones are functional in terms of temperatures well below 0 degrees. The Finnish magazine, MikroPC, demonstrated that Samsung phones can operate at temperatures between 38 and -20 degrees C.

Technical team from MikroPC tested 15 of the most popular mobile phones available in Finland, in the Weather Room, located in the Research Centre VTT Espoo, Finland. This laboratory specialized in research offers full control of internal temperature, which means that the temperatures indicated by the measuring apparatus can be modified even a fraction of a degree.

MikroPC found that smartphone at low temperatures is Samsung GALAXY S2, which ran up when temperatures reached -35 degrees Celsius. GALAXY S2 was also smartphone has continued to function smoothly when the temperature reached -30 degrees Celsius. Even if Android Xcover not part of the balancing test between the best selling 15 mobile phones, it behaved as good as Galaxy S2.

A new software update for Samsung Galaxy S II has been leaked and it’s apparently a beta built of the Android 2.3.4 update, known as the build XXG1 or firmware version I9100XXKG1.

This is a minor update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 and brings a few features and improvements such as:

  •  enabled video calls in Google Talk
  •  improvement in battery life
  •  improved reception and patched security holes

According to some folks over at SamFirmware the update is a beta built of the Android 2.3.4 update for the Galaxy S II, and there are a choice of custom ROMs based on the latest Android OS available. They got their hands on a leaked firmware update to Android version 2.3.4 which seems to be the firmware version I9100XXKG1, with a build date July – 5 – 2011.

The Galaxy S II (GS2) is one of the fastest devices in the market. It packs a dual-core 1.2 GHz processor and a Mali 400MP GPU, the phone is absolutely great. Additionally, it has a maddening 1 GB RAM to offer you all the crazy multitasking you ever dreamed about. As a reminder, Galaxy S2 features a 4.3 inch capacitive touchscreen, is powered by a 1 GHz dual-core processor and has 8 megapixels camera with LED flash capable to record videos at 1080p resolution. Also, Galaxy S2 runs the latest version of Android 2.3 Gingerbread.

Rumor: Galaxy S2 at Mobile World Congress 2011

Samsung-Galaxy-S2-i9200It is very probably to see at the MWC2011 the successor of Samsung Galaxy S which is rumored to be called Galaxy S2 (I9200).

The first rumors about Galaxy S2 appeared on October 2011. At that time, Galaxy S2 was expected to have a 4.3 inch SAMOLED2 screen with 720 x 1280 px resolution, 2 GHz processor and 1 GB of RAM.

The recent rumors show similar features, but with one exception, a dual-core processor known as Orion. Other specs of Galaxy S2 include NFC chip and Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS.

MWC 2011 event will take place in Barcelona between 14-17 February 2011, where we expect to see the new Samsung Galaxy S2.

Samsung i9200 Galaxy S2, photo and details leaked

The device is not officialy but the photo looks more like render, than a real device. This model is expected to appear next year, probably to Mobile World Congress.

The specs of Samsung Galaxy i9200 are great. The device have a 4.3 inch Super AMOLED 2 display with 1280 x 720 pixels resolution (my laptop screen resolution is the same, wow), features 2 GHz processor, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB ROM. Includes a 32 GB built-in flash memory and 32 GB expandable slot for a microSD card. The camera is probably to show a 8 megapixels resolution with capability to record fullHD video. Connectivity provides a Wi-Fi connection, built-in GPS and Bluetooth 3.0. For music the phone have a 3.5 mm audio jack. Sensors list includes accelerometer, gyroscope, proximity and ambient light sensors.

Samsung Galaxy i9200 most probably run on Android 3.0 OS.
