Microsoft has killed Nokia in favor of Lumia

Nokia Lumia 900 AT and TNokia’s mobile phone assets became a part of Microsoft Mobile, a new subsidiary of Microsoft based in Finland this year. Until now, we heard more rumors about the end of the Nokia brand in favor of Microsoft Lumia, but until October 21, 2014, Microsoft has officially announced to The Verge this change.

That change means, that we will can’t see any more Nokia Lumia devices on the markets. First country where Microsoft Lumia will be available is France. That means that in this country Microsoft will change the Facebook, Twitter and other social media accounts.

The brand Nokia, won’t completely disappear, the Finnish company continuing to focus on mapping and network infrastructure, but don`t expect to see `Nokia` printed on any handsets.

BlackBerry Q10 exclusively for Rogers Canada

HTC One release date on Sprint and AT&T US announced

The official release date is April 19, according to AT&T and Sprint, and if you can`t wait to appear in stores, you can make a pre-order starting Friday (April 5) from both carriers.

On AT&T HTC One will be available with 2-year contract and can chose two models, with 32GB internal storage for $199 and if you want the 64GB version of the HTC One you have to pay $100 more, from same contract agreement.  As a remember, HTC One does not have possibility to plugin any memory card, because there is not memory card slot, so think carefully what it`s your option before you decide to buy. A plus, for those customers who pre-order the HTC One through AT&T is that they will receive a free HTC Media Link HD wireless HDMI adaptor, around $90 worth of free gift.

On Sprint carrier, unfortunately the version with 64GB is not available. The price for 32GB version is same, $199 with contract for 2-year.

For both carriers, you can choose from two different colors, HTC One Black or Silver.

Vodafone plans to sell the shares it holds in Verizon Wireless for 88 billion euros

verizon-wireless-logoBritish telecommunications group Vodafone, plans to sell its stake in Verizon Wireless, the largest mobile operator in the U.S. to receive 115 billion dollars (about 88 billion euros) from Verizon Communications, American telecommunications company that holds 55% of Verizon Wireless, according to people familiar with the matter, Bloomberg. Vodafone owns 45% stake of American operator.

Following this transaction Verizon Communications will wholly owns the most profitable division of the company. In the last quarter of 2012, Verizon Wireless has made a record 2.1 million customers, surpassing the rival operator AT&T and other competitors.

Verizon wants to control the world’s best asset“, said Jonathan Chaplin, an analyst at research firm New Street Research in New York.

In December last year, the two companies, Vodafone and Verizon Communications discussed a possible merger, said sources close to the situation. However, negotiations were intrerupte because of disagreements about the appointment of new management companies and headquarters location. Vodafone stake sale to Verizon Wireless became more likely. Talks will resume this year, said the immediate situation.

Verizon’s share price rose yesterday on the New York Stock Exchange for the 12 consecutive day by 1.2% to $47.69 (36.58 euros) per unit. Vodafone share price rose by 5.2% to $ 26.68 (20.46 euros), according to Bloomberg.

The US telecom providers, AT&T and Verizon Wireless announced the prices for the new iPhone 5 smartphone released by Apple in San Francisco on September 12.

The release date for iPhone 5 on Verizon Wireless will be next month, in October 10, according with Verizon Wireless website. The price for new Apple smartphone starts at $200 with 2-year contract for version of iPhone 5 4G LTE 16GB, and increases gradually to $299 for version with 32GB and $399.99 for version with 64GB internal storage. New customers will pay the same money regardless of the chosen color, white or black.

Also, AT&T presents on their website the prices for iPhone 5 smartphone. The prices are same as Verizon Wireless. After pre-order, “your iPhone 5 16GB will be shipped in 14-21 business days”.

For both carriers, the new iPhone 5 is available also with free-contract for $649.99.
