Tizen – the open source rival for Android

tizen-open-source-osLeague “junior” of operating systems for smartphones becomes more competitive, in this year will be launched phones with the open source OS Tizen, which could become a competitor to Apple’s iOS market leaders and Android provided by Google, reported Business Insider.

For now, Tizen will compete with other open source system entrant, Firefox OS and Microsoft’s Windows Phone and BlackBerry OS upgraded.

Tizen is supported by many mobile operators, which are a serious competitor to Google and Apple systems.

Samsung Electronics has become the largest producer of smartphones in the world largely due to the adoption of Android, but also a strong supporter of Tizen.

A spokesman for the South Korean company said Tuesday that Samsung gives up own system for Tizen Bada. But Samsung will continue to manufacture Android phones.

Yves Maitre, Director at Orange, said at the Mobile World Congress that the operator will launch phones with Tizen system in France this year, and in developing countries in 2014.

Between supporters of Tizel OS are Nestel Sprint, Intel and Huawei Technologies.

Tizel system phones will work and will look almost the same as those with Android, except that applications icons are round and not square.

Also Firefox OS, presented Sunday at Barcelona, has to turn round icons and phones equipped with this system will be launched this year.

Firefox and Tizen open source systems are supported by non-profit organizations, and can be customized so that mobile operators can control their operation on phones sold.

Instead Apple have control over the functioning of the iPhone’s iOS.

The idea of creating an open source operating system is not new. Android is an open source system developed by Google. However, no open-source system controlled by non-profit organizations failed.

Tizen system is based on two other options failed, MeeGo and LiMo.

Tizen Association said that phones with this system will be launched simultaneously with thousands of applications.

iOS 5.0.1 finally released, not fixing iPhone 4S battery issues

iOS 5.0.1 finally released, not fixing iPhone 4S battery issues

The so long waited iOS 5.0.1 was finally released and it’s now available via OTA update. One of the main issues that this update has tried to solve was the iPhone 4S battery issues, but unfortunately it appears that this wasn’t meant to be since no improvements were made regarding the 4S battery.

Now, the thing is there were also some lucky owners who reported that the new iOS version features among several minor tweaks and fixes, the battery life fix for iPhone 4S. The question is why after this iOS 5.0.1 update some iOS devices has revealed an improved battery life, while on others nothing changed? In some cases the iPhone 4S battery was reduced due to multiple reasons from which we can mention its dual core processor, and it was also revealed that iPhone uses an additional IR sensor that is permanently on when the screen is lit, and to fix that small issue you should turn off “raise to speak” Siri setting.

The iOS 5.0.1 update was Apple’s first public over-the-air update, and could be downloaded directly on your iPhone over Wi-Fi instead of requiring a full iOS download and update via iTunes.

Let us know how this iOS 5.0.1 works for you, and if you noticed any improvements on the battery life.
