The finished version of the Gingerbread update for HTC Thunderbolt has just been announced through a tweet sent by HTC.

Both HTC and Verizon estimates that the update will arrive soon, and the users will be notified as soon as the Gingerbread is available for their devices.

VZW & HTC anticipate the update being available soon. You will be notified directly on your device when it is ready to d’load“. The earlier version of Gingerbread update for HTC Thunderbolt was released back in the late September, but it was an unfinished version and the users have started to experience different problems and issues once they installed the software. Some of these problems included errors in the email notifications, problems with the camera locking and the clock app, Google Talk and also HTC’s Sense UI. So, there were quite a lot issues that’s why the old Gingerbread update was removed.

Hopefully, this final version of Gingerbread for HTC Thunderbolt, will be the good one and you won’t have to experience any other problems, such as whole sets of new bugs to the phone.

A brand new smartphone has just been released on AT&T for only $100. Its name is Motorola Atrix 2 and is the predecessor of the ATRIX 4G that was launched earlier this year.

Motorola Atrix 2 features a 4.3 inch qHD touchscreen, with an 8 megapixel camera capable of autofocus and a flash, and there’s also a secondary videocall camera upfront for videochating. It runs the latest Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS and packs a 1GHz dual core CPU, on top of that with 1GB of RAM. It also features 8GB of internal storage and support for compatibility with the Lapdock laptop dock, that provide the possibility to turn the ATRIX 2 into a netbook PC. Other features include a microSD card support, 21 Mbps HSDPA, 5.76 Mbps HSUPA, Bluetooth, GPS, and a 1,785 mAh battery. The phone will also offer the AT&T’s HSPA+ connectivity, which is about as fast as 3G can go at this moment.

The price tag of this new Atrix 2 is $100 on AT&T with a 2 years contract, but there’s also a cheaper option at Amazon for the same device, with the same two-year AT&T contract, for just $49.99. So, if you really want this phone in your pocket visit Amazon and order it from there.

An unofficial update has just been released for the Galaxy S2, the I777UCKJ1 firmware update courtesy of DesignGears.

This Android 2.3.5 build comes with some new features and a few bugs in it but it also corrects some bugs as well. So, since the home button haptic doesn’t work, this new I777UCKJ1 firmware fixes the Home button lag and Lockscreen bug. It also features an Overscoll glow.

Twitter has just released a new update for its iOS application, preparing for the iOS5 launch.

The iPhone and iPad version of Twitter has been updated to 3.5.0 v and brings minor enhancements and some new features, some of them specially optimized for the iPad.

The new 3.5 version brings a great number of performance and stability enhancements, and also a few bugs fixes, offering some new and enhanced signup options, but also a star feature which is the new photo sharing ( that lets users share photos directly through Twitter, which has partnered with Photobucket to power the image hosting.Other features include:

Some good news comes from Verizon Wireless who has announced that very soon, actually this month it will launch the 4G LTE service in 22 new cities, and to be followed by another 13 on November 17th.

So, in about a month, Verizon Wireless will officially offer the 4G LTE service in 178 markets. The first lucky Verizon customers to benefit the 4G LTE service starting October 20th will be those from: Birmingham, Alabama; Modesto and Stockton, California; Fort Myers, Florida; Bloomington, Elkhart, Evansville, South Bend and Terre Haute, Indiana; Sioux City, Iowa; Hagerstown, Maryland; Tupelo, Mississippi; Albuquerque and Santa Fe, New Mexico; Buffalo, New York; Asheville, North Carolina; Bartlesville, Oklahoma; Jackson and Martin, Tennessee; Greater Hampton Roads and Richmond, Virginia and Green Bay, Wisconsin.

On this exact same day Verizon will also expand the existing service in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Washington, D.C., and Erie, and Pennsylvania. Samsung has announced a new member to the Galaxy tablet family, the new Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, which is an upgrade from the latest version of the successful GALAXY Tab.

The new Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus Tablet features a 7-inch 1,024 x 600-pixel display, a dual-core 1.2GHz processor, dual cameras, embedded HSPA+ and runs the Android 3.2 Honeycomb OS. As the Samsung’s mobile boss JK Shin said, the new GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus will be equipped with enhanced portability, a better productivity and a richer multimedia experience. Speaking about productivity, the Web browsing will be enhanced by Adobe Flash and a super-fast HSPA+ connectivity, and will provide download speeds up to three times faster than a conventional HSPA connection. On top of that Wi-Fi Channel Bonding bonds two channels into one for improved network connection and data transfer at up to twice the speed.

Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus will become available in Indonesia and Austria somewhere toward the end of October, and the next countries in which it will be soon launched are in Southeast and Southwest Asia, U.S., Europe, CIS, Latin America, Middle East, Africa, Japan and China will follow. Unfortunately, no pricing or a specific launch date for the Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus have been revealed to us, but we will keep posting as soon as we find out.

iPhone 5 coming soon in the USA, UK, Germany, France and Japan

iphone5-rumorOne of the stars of 2011, and maybe the brightest, is claimed to be the iPhone 5. Some rumors says that the sales for this iOS device will start on October 14th in the UK, US, Germany and France. Another lucky country is Japan, which is also included on the list of initial rollout.

These rumors have different sources, one of these being the Japanese site Macotakara which claims the arrival of the iPhone 5 in several stores from these 5 countries, and another rumor which confirms the arrival comes from Orange France CEO Stephane Richard, who hinted at a potential iPhone 5 debut in the carrier’s stores on October 15th. Another solid rumor comes from the Cupertino giant, that gives a little hint about an opening purchase on the 14th and 15th of the next month.

To give a better impression about how the iPhone 5 will be welcomed by the customers, a study was made by the mobile ad network InMobi, and the result reveals that about 41 percent of North American mobile phone owners are planning to purchase one of the Apple’s upcoming iPhone 5. Also, the study provides some information that indicates that about 52 percent of BlackBerry owners and 27 percent of Android users, would chose the iPhone 5 as their next device, and let’s not forget about the current iPhone owners, where it’s estimated that 51 percent are expected to make the leap for the iPhone 5.

iPhone 5 will support 21Mbps HSPA+ data networks, and here we can mention that T-Mobile and AT&T both offer 21Mbps HSPA+ connectivity in the United States, and it packs an 8-megapixel camera, in a thinner and lighter aluminum unibody design and a larger display.

Droid 2 Gingerbread and Evo 4G maintenance update coming soon

The Droid 2 is expecting the much anticipated Gingerbread 2.3 update, while the Evo 4G is preparing for something not that huge as the Gingerbread, but a welcomes maintenance update.

Now let’s see! The Gingerbread OTA for Droid 2 is coming as the 4.5.601 software and will occupy 106MB from your device memory. It includes a lot of new features and improvements such as added security, a customizable dock, improved copy-paste functionality, a download manager app and another few enhancements that will improve the user experience. This OTA is expected to arrive very soon, maybe just in a few days, so prepare your phone for some tasty Gingerbread.

The next on our list is the maintenance update for the HTC Evo 4G, and will arrive as the 4.53.651.1 software version. Even though is not as huge as the Droid 2’s Gingerbread it brings a few bug fixes such as: Images cut off in Picasa issue fixed, Integrated voice recognition accuracy with voice search and voice-to-text, Image size issue with contact transfer over bluetooth resolved , Group contacts not in alphabetical order issue resolved, Out of memory, Unable to send SMS error fixed. This small maintenance update for Evo 4G is scheduled to hit devices in the next 1-2 weeks.

Even though it’s summer time and we’re still planning our vacation, various updates seems like they’re getting back from a long vacation, and are bringing a few goodies for all of you. Seems like Sprint will be the first lucky carrier to launch the Samsung Galaxy S2, and is also expected to bring in the next several weeks a new series of mobile phones running under Google’s Android operating system.

According to the carrier plan, Sprint is preparing to launch in its store the high-end Galaxy S II smartphone on September 9th, but with the name of Epic Touch 4G, as the successor of last year’s Epic 4G smartphone.

Also, the Sprint’s Galaxy S2 will arrive with the Mobile IP application. This innovative app was specially designed to offer deaf, hard of hearing, and speech disabled individuals the possibility to place calls just by using text on Android devices. The Mobile IP Relay app from Sprint is available in the Android Market, along with the lists of phones that support the relay calls and here’s the eagerly-awaited  along with the HTC EVO 4G, the Kyocera Echo and the HTC EVO 3D .
