A few time ago when Apple officially announced the brand new iPhone 4S, has also revealed the new AppleCare+ program for iOS devices available for only $99.
The AppleCare+ program was made to extend the repair coverage and technical support to two years, allowing the customer two instances of repair work on a handset damaged due to handling at a rate of $49 each. The terms and condition for obtaining this type of service was that it could only be bought at the time of the phone purchase, which meant allowing to purchase AppleCare+ through November 14th but it appears that those who pre-order the device now it will have enough time until December 15th to sign up for AppleCare+ protection.
Apple’s site offers AppleCare+ within 30 days of the iPhone purchase, but if you’re planning on going away you’ll need to either call up Apple directly or make an appointment at your local Apple Genius Bar if you need to have the phone inspected. So, how many of you would like to get the AppleCare+ service on your new iPhone?
We’ve found some interesting news related to the unlock of the so popular and debated iPhone 4S. Seems that the new iOS 5 allows some cool tricks so that the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and 3GS devices can be unlocked quite easily without the need of using the jailbreak.
But you may wonder how can this be possible? Well, seems that the new iOS 5 features a cute little bug that allows a way to carrier unlock the AT&T version of the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS without the need to jailbreak or damage any hardware pieces. This trick will allow you to use your iOS device on the T-Mobile network with Edge speeds, event though in the US this is still a popular avenue for a lot of the iPhone users.
So, if you want to try to unlock your iPhone 4S or 3GS you would need a T-Mobile MicroSIM card, but if you don’t you can cut one down to the same size as a MicroSIM and follow the next steps:
– Insert original carrier AT&T SIM cardDial 611 for AT&T customer service hotline and drop the call
– Turn on Airplane Mode
– Take out AT&T SIM card
– Insert T-Mobile SIM card
– Make sure WiFi is off ( also tap on ‘Forget this Network” to make sure it doesn’t connect automatically later)
– Switch off Airplane Mode and iPhone will search for network. This is followed by the Apple splash screen appearing.
– Activation Required will be displayed on the screen
– EDGE network will activate automatically – notice the ‘E’ on the top left corner of the screen
– Wait for about 20-30 seconds and turn off the phone
– Turn on iPhone and the same Activation Required screen will be displayed
– When you see one signal bar, tap on Use Cellular Connection
– Eject SIM card
– Activation Required screen will be displayed the second time
– Insert SIM card
So, if you’re convinced and want to give it a try, you should know that is a great working unlock solution, but it won’t survive a reboot of your iPhone. So, let us know how it works!

Now, because time means money and Apple don’t want to get the customers angry, they have already announced that it will soon release the iOS 5.0.2 software version that it will solve 4S battery issues. There were more than many customers that once the iOS 5.0.1 was released they reported that the battery issues didn’t disappeared. We hope that with this new iOS 5.0.2 update that is ready to arrive to all iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S customers will come with fixes related to battery issues that so many customers are experiencing.
Beside this update that claims to fix the battery issues, the first major platform is also in the work update to iOS 5 as Macerkopf’s source claimed, and promise that it will bring some great enhancements to Siri, such as the ability to capture photographs and video, as well as some cool features to enable and disable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi. The iOS 5.0.2 is expected to arrive in the early Q1 2012, but we will keep posting as soon a we find more information.
We all were excited about the release of the iOS 5 a few weeks ago, but soon after the release, a lot of iPhone users have started to experience lower battery performance after upgrading to iOS 5.
Apple has already confirmed the problem, and said that there are several bugs which caused this problems and they’re trying to fix this problem as soon as possible, in a single patch. The big update that will fix the bad bug it will arrive in a few weeks.
“A small number of customers have reported lower than expected battery life on iOS 5 devices. We have found a few bugs that are affecting battery life and we will release a software update to address those in a few weeks.” – Apple Representative
Now, regarding the new iOS 5.0.1 beta for developers, it actually comes with a bug fix for the battery life issue in iOS 5, along with some other features such as addition of multitasking gestures in the first generation iPad, resolved bugs with documents in the Cloud, improved voice recognition for Australian users using dictation and few improvements regarding the security. In addition to these improvements, Apple announced that “iOS 5.0.1 beta introduces a new way for developers to specify files that should remain on device, even in low storage situations.”
If you are a developer you can grab the update from Apple’s developer site, and if not, you just have to wait like the rest of us until the update will be finally released.
Google has finally released the so long waited Gmail App for iOS devices, and brings quite some nice features from which we can mention the push notifications and the ability to search your inbox.
The new app will combine three of the most wanted and needed features, regarding speed, efficiency and touch, that will help you get more productive on the go. The iOS Gmail App that will work with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch will take full advantage of the touchscreen and notification capabilities of your device.
Unfortunately the app had to deal with some bugs, which broke the notification system and created some error messages when the app was open. Google has already retrieved the app and tries to correct the problem as soon as possible. So, it’s good to know that Google isn’t thinking just about its Android OS and wants to share some of its very useful apps to iOS users, but this time it was kind of mess. They were several users that reported multiple errors, and thought the app was just a wrapper around Google’s Gmail web UI for iOS devices.
What was the problem? It was rushed! That’s all. It’s obvious that they didn’t give to much attention or ensured that the app works well. Hope the final release of Gmail App for iOS wood be a success.
