Google’s “Chrome to phone” for Android 2.2 devices
“Chrome to Phone” is an app that allows you to sync data messages, links and other information from your desktop web browser with your mobile phone.
The three ingredients of this simple and useful “Chrome to Phone” app are a Chrome Extension, a Google AppEngine server and an Android application. All of this open sourced code helps you to use C2DM.
Chrome to Phone app features:
– Send links to browser
– Google Maps links launch the Google Maps app
– YouTube links launch the YouTube app
– Selecting phone numbers in Web pages, launches the dialer with the number pre-populated
– Selected text populates the Android clipboard (long-press on text boxes to get paste option)
So, how does it works:
The first thing you have to do is to download and install the “Chrome to Phone” extension. Then, you will notice a new button on your Chrome web browser. Hit the Android Market and get the “Chrome to Phone” app, and now you can send links, maps or any information you want to your smartphone just by pushing the button on the desktop browser. Enjoy!
And keep in mind that it only works for Android 2.2 smartphones or higher and for the moment is available in US, UK, Canada, Australia, Ireland, New Zealand, and South Africa. But, if your not in one of these countries don’t worry, because in a few weeks it will probably arrive in your country too.
