Apple is in talks with cable TV operators to launch a top box

U.S. company Apple, the most valuable technology company in the world, discuss with at least one cable operator in the U.S. about building a set top box that could “broadcast” and live TV and other content, write Bloomberg, citing an article published by the Wall Street Journal.

Information was obtained from anonymous sources close to the discussions and was not confirmed by any company involved. This equipment may be purchased by customers, instead of being leased for a monthly fee from the cable operator. Such a deal would represent the biggest step in the Apple TV, for years the company has said that this area is just a “hobby”. Set top box made today by the company, Apple TV, does not allow viewing of live TV, but is rather designed to simplify access to online content store and content delivery company from YouTube or Netflix.

Rumours of Apple entering the TV industry have worsened after the official biography was published Apple co-founder Steve Jobs, who died last year. The biography written by Walter Isaacson Jobs says he finally realized how to build a TV equipment. “We have the most simple user interface that you could imagine,” said Jobs.
